first_imgSeveral recent shootings in Tuscaloosa County over the past few months have led to questions from residents and city leaders regarding the gun violence.District 2 Tuscaloosa City Councilwoman Raevan Howard said she believes gun violence in the city is getting out of control and wants to hear from her constituents about what they think can be done about the issue.Howard said she wants the city pushing and promoting a serious campaign bringing awareness to gun violence and how it’s hurt West Alabama because when violence happens, it affects the whole community.This week, Howard said she’ll be hosting a community forum in the hopes of starting a conversation with city leaders and residents.“I see the city getting involved in doing a big push against gun violence in our community,” Howard said. “I also see my community coming out, having realistic conversations with me about what they would like to see happen and their ideas about how we can get a grip and lessen these acts of violence in our area.”The rally is happening 6 p.m. Thursday at the McDonald Hughes Center, 3101 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.last_img read more
