Members of Boy Scout Troop 192 from Old Mission Methodist Church helped unload Christmas trees at the Shawnee Indian Mission.Christmas trees are on the lots. Two Boy Scout Troops have received their Christmas tree shipments and are ready to start selling. Troop 192 from Old Mission Methodist Church will be selling trees again this year from the Shawnee Indian Mission and Troop 199 will be selling as always at St. Michael’s Church at Nall and 67th in Mission. Both sales start Friday. At St. Michael’s, sales open at 11 a.m. Monday through Friday and at 9 a.m. on the weekends, but start at 9 a.m. this Friday. The Indian Mission sales begin at noon Monday through Friday and at 9 a.m. on weekends. The tree sales are fundraisers for the troops and at the Indian Mission part of the proceeds go to the renovation of the west building.Westwood sets holiday tree lighting for Dec. 2. Westwood residents will have the chance to gather together in a festive holiday atmosphere Tuesday, Dec. 2 for the Mayor’s Holiday Tree Lighting ceremony. The ceremony will be held on the grounds of city hall, and will feature a performance by the Bishop Miege Concert Chorale Singers and Santa Claus himself. Refreshments will be provided.Corinth Square merchants donate clothing to Goodwill. A group of Corinth Square merchants recently donated several bins worth of gently used clothing for Goodwill. Financial Security Advisors spearheaded the donation drive.Holiday Lights & Festive Sights coming Dec. 5 in Mission. Mission’s annual winter holiday festival will be held along the newly opened Johnson Drive at Woodson on Dec. 5. The night begins at 5 p.m. with free s’mores, popcorn and hot chocolate. Free horse drawn carriage rides start at 5:30 p.m. and the night concludes with musical fireworks at 8:15 p.m. Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive at 6 p.m. in a horse drawn carriage. The night includes other food offerings, the SM North choir, visits to Santa, cookie decorating and other children’s activities.
