first_img Share Photo by John Blackie West Florida Announces 2009-10 Women’s Basketball Schedulecenter_img PENSACOLA, Fla. – University of West Florida women’s basketball Head Coach Shannan Bergen announced the team’s 2009-10 schedule on Friday. The Argonauts will open the regular season at home on November 16, with the Gulf South Conference schedule set to start at home on January 7.Before the season’s first official game, UWF will face Division I rival South Alabama in an exhibition game in Mobile on November 8. After the season opener against the University of Mobile at home on November 16, the Argonauts will host the first of three home tournaments of the season. The UWF Tip-Off Classic will take place at the UWF Field House on November 20-21, hosting Cameron, Harding, and Lynn.The Argonauts will pack their winter gear and head north for the Alaska-Fairbanks Tournament, set to take place on November 26-28 with UWF’s opponents to be announced at a future date. West Florida will then return to Pensacola to host the UWF Argo Classic on December 4-5, seeing Columbus State, Eckerd, and West Alabama at the UWF Field House.After single game against GSC West Division rival Delta State at home on December 13, UWF will head east to face Flagler and Palm Beach Atlantic on December 15-17. The Argos will come home to host the UWF Holiday Classic on December 29-30, hosting Missouri Science and Technology, Southern Arkansas, and again West Alabama.The new year will start with a non-conference game at home against Clayton State on January 3, with the GSC East Division schedule set to start on January 7 against West Alabama, the Tigers’ third trip to Pensacola during the season. The Argos will then have four more games in January, facing Valdosta State and West Georgia on the road and North Alabama and Lambuth at home.February starts with a trip north to face West Alabama and Alabama-Huntsville on February 3 and February 6, respectively. The Argos will then come back for their final home games on February 10 and February 13, facing Valdosta State and West Georgia in that order.
