first_imgDavid Beckham says Wayne Rooney must start for England at Euro 2016.The Three Lions captain has not enjoyed the best of seasons for Manchester United.With the 30-year-old currently sidelined through injury and the likes of Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy in fine form, Rooney’s international place is duly being called into question.But Beckham insists Rooney still has plenty to offer his country and is backing him to be Roy Hodgson’s main man in France this summer.Asked if he would start the striker at the Euros, the ex-England captain exclusively told talkSPORT: “Without a doubt.“He is our captain, he is the most experienced player we have got. It is all about having options but, for me, if you have got a fit Wayne Rooney then he should start.“He has got that experience, players respect him, and we all love the way Wayne Rooney plays the game, especially the way he plays for England. You can tell he cares. He will give everything.“The thing you will get with Wayne is not just the hard work and everything he does, but he scores in big games.”last_img
